And I’m way behind…… I’ve been actively procrastinating. And, I reflected this morning, that I’m not giving my best effort into my blog posting.
This is one of those times I will pull myself up by my own bootstraps, and be present in this process.
So… tonight won’t be the time that I really will try to get into a big discussion, but I might share an experience I had earlier this year.
A friend of mine and I organized a quilt block exchange with a total of 16 participants, from all over North American. I drew up a pattern and tested it. The pattern required a bit of paper piecing, as well as some traditional piecing. I ended up extending our deadline beyond June of this year.
I will admit I was one of the participants that was the last to complete my blocks.
Part of the exchange involved some participants that were not as familiar as others with paper piecing. So, I took the opportunity to make a couple of videos on some of the processes I use.
I learned a lot from that process in itself. I am hoping that the videos I shared did help. And, I keep getting reminded that we all learn in different ways, and often need to hear things in one or two of up to seven different ways before we actually comprehend or absorb an idea.
I loved the results of what I received as my allotment of blocks. I’ll share some of them in one of the future posts, but I wills hare with you some pictures or our blocks as I was working through mine.
It was a welcome respite to creating my own quilts with my own ideas. I find following someone else’s pattern can provide me with a bit of a rest creatively to allow my subconscious to puzzle over a solution for something else I am working on while doing some chain stitching on a different project.
Anyways, I was very happy with the results and I am looking forward to putting my stack of blocks into my very own layout.
Hope you are working on something you enjoy. Below are some of the blocks in process……
